Is there a particular brand / model of iPad stand that you use? I don't like the one that I just received from Amazon because the piece that holds the iPad keeps falling off...poor design. SO...any recommendations? THANK YOU!

I've used this one for several years now. I screw mine directly into the top of a mic stand and don't use the C clamp. Works well for small and large tablets/notebooks and has tons of mounting options.

I've also used a regular music stand, which works fine too. Just a bit higher risk of getting knocked off. If your stand gets knocked over, you can catch the holder type if you're quick. But you can't catch it if it's on a regular music stand. There's also a better chance the tablet won't hit the ground if it's clamped in. Some of my bandmates who use a regular music stand do attempt to attach the tablet to it somehow. Not sure how well that would really work in a bad fall.

I use a metal (magnetic metal) stand, with my ipad in an ESR magnetic case.
The case has multiple setups, but the best thing is it's magnetic. So I can remove it from the "stand' portion, and place it in the stand. It magnetically sticks to the stand, so even if the stand gets bumped (or even if the stand is upside down!) it stays put!!!
Here's an example of the case (please check if it fits your ipad...)
