 Needle spring adjustment tips

Hi all,

I added some tension to a bunch of springs on my bass and what a difference it made.

I was worried that I might bend them too much, so I had a "counter" point to the bending about half way so I don't bend on the connection point itself.

How do you usually go about these adjustments?
