Do you think I could play bass clarinet at a conservatory audition for classical clarinet ?

Good question! Are there conservatories that have studios that specialize in the bass clarinet? The Paris Conservatory has a bass clarinet class, but I don't know if you audition for it on the bass clarinet. I'll ask. At any rate, a bass clarinetist is no longer considered a failed clarinetist.

I can't see any reason why not. But it probably depends on the conservatory. Why not contact them and ask?
