What, when and where was your initial exposure to clarinet that ultimately found you playing it seriously enough that a forum like this would be interesting to you?
In first grade I clearly remember the music room in the basement of my elementary school. One day we each received a plastic recorder in a corduroy case.
I suspect in today's dollars, landed (forget tariffs) it is probably $2.45 a unit, but to me, the instrument might as well might have been made out of gold for all I brought to the table for me.
The ability to express myself with music...I was hooked, instantly. And when real instruments started in 4th grade clarinet seemed like the natural transition.
52 years later it still consumes me.
What's your story; I know they must vary. My understanding is our moderator, (he can elaborate or correct me) with more tech than clarinet savvy, developed interest in clarinet as a way to better bond with his son who played.
"Three trillion" posts later this board still exists!
