Looking For Wiseman Bass Clarinet Case
Author: HenryG123789

Hello everyone, I’m currently looking into purchasing a Wiseman bass clarinet case, and was wondering if anyone either has a used one they were looking to sell (either leather or carbon fiber) or a referral code that I’ve heard give 10% off. This would be to carry instruments back and forth between rehearsals and concerts, in case anyone was wondering. I’ve already considered Bonna and BAM.

Contact Wiseman directly, they were offering a new year discount code.

I ended getting mine from the states. It was less than 2/3 the price of directly from Wisemanns with the discount from wisemanns

I have one that I'm selling, however it was made more for a Selmer Bass. I was able to get both my Kessler and Yamaha in it though.

Do you think a Backun would be able to fit in it? Also, does it fit two sopranos as most do?

I'm not sure, to be honest. The biggest worry, I think, would be the shape of the bell, and length of it. Some of the Buffet basses (IIRC) have a larger space between the two sides of the curve. I haven't seen a Backun bass in person to test it out.

And yes, It can fit 2 soprano clarinets. I'll look for a photo and post here when I find it!

I have an older/regular Wiseman similar to the one in concertmaster3's photo above and a Buffet 1193 bass, which I think has possibly the largest bell of all of these models (except that one weird old Buffet model with a ridiculously long bell).

Other models with smaller bells fit better but the bell does fit though it's a bit tight. I've used it for years and it's fine, no issue from it being tight except maybe being a little less comfortable to put it there and take it out. One small annoyance, I removed the peg holder screw each time (Buffet uses this really large star shape nut). It's been a couple of years since I used the case so I don't remember if it was too tight with the screw or possibly sticking out so it was an issue with closing the two sides. I guess you could also change to a smaller nut similar to Selmer's but that big star nut is so much nicer to use than a small knurled nut.

As shown above you can put a bass and two sopranos in the case, but keep in mind that you would barely have space for anything else (at least with my A model which I think is the same as the one in the photo, they have a B model with more space but it's longer and heavier). The reason I got it is to save myself from carrying another case/bag, so bringing another case/bag for accessories would defeat the whole purpose.

This is for the older model similar to the photo. Their newer carbon fiber models are organized differently (possibly less fussy about the bell size/shape but it's from vague memory...) so maybe their old style cases are different inside too... I don't know.
