Even second-hand basset horns cost a pretty penny. Are there any acceptable, affordable Chinese basset horns? Thank you and a Happy New Year to all of you!

Chris, from what I hear, Uebel have their instruments made in China.

I’ve been wistfully hoping for years that Royal Global will develop one.
A basset horn version of their Max bass clarinet, would in my opinion, change the industry and revive the instrument’s usage in the current day.

That's a basset clarinet as opposed to a basset horn.
I suspect as Uebel are currently offering Buffet-style basset horns, other Chinese makers like Royal Global will soon follow suit.
As for the old DDR era Uebel basset horns, they're the most hit and miss basset horns ever made.

I'm surprised Ridenour didn't offer ebonite versions of Leblanc basset horns as there's no real reason why they didn't. That would've at least made them more affordable and accessible considering there were plastic Vito and Normandy alto and bass (as well as contra-altos and contrabasses) that are affordable by comparison to their Leblanc counterparts.

Last I heard, over a year ago, they have an Eb clarinet in the works. Haven't heard anything since.
