which etudes/technical exercises would you recommend for the German system clarinet? Something like the Rose etudes for example, but especially for developing technical skills on the German system clarinet

The 2 volumes of Ewald Koch's Schule für Klarinette have a wide variety of material and instructions (in German and Russian in my edition).

Maybe a bit on the dry side for some.

Also useful for Boehm.

I heard Daniel Ottensamer say he used the Alfred Prinz 25 Etudes to keep in shape during Covid.

hi hp,

i don't know your situation, but as someone who switched from Boehm to Oehler late in the game, i found that Baermann IV to be the most helpful initially.

once the "new" fingerings became less awkward, i went on to the other etudes that have already been mentioned above.

hope that helps.

Anything you practise, regardless of national origin, will improve your playing- you don't need to hunt for "German-specific" etudes etc.

I think the OP is looking for the material that would address the specifics of the Oehler system like forked notes and rolling pinkies.
Kroepsch should be a good challenge.

Many studies by Rudolf Jettel: 10 Studies, 18 Studies, Preliminary Studies to the Accomplished Clarinetist, The Accomplished Clarinetist, vol. I, II, and III.

EVERY piece of music you play addresses the differences- Fmajor scale addresses the differences, Gmajor etc etc
Anything you play that involves more than 2 sharps or flats will likely involve rolling pinkies (or the patent C#, which many German players avoid using).
Playing C major scale addresses the differences. There's no need to search for studies that address these differences, they ALL do. The ones by German composers have been used by both French and German players for the last 200 years, and many of the German ones were written for various predecessors to the modern German keywork.

Written by German or Austrian system players. Some predate the Oehler system.

All the Stark books
All the Kroepsch
Baermann IV, V
Uhl 48
Victor Polatschek Etudes
Jettel Books
Prinz 25 Studies
Hoffmeister - Moderne Klarinettentechnik

Play the Hamelin "Gammes et exercises" (do the whole book once a day, it doesn't take that long to do). This will totally get you used to the new fingerings.
Also, the Jeanjean 16 Etudes will help you develop some chops for sure. Much harder on Oehler system than on Boehm.
