Hello, I am looking for some help and this is the only site i came across from google search regarding this.
I inherited some clarinet mouthpieces.
I have 1 that is marked A.Robert then Paris underneath that name.
Someone told me these could be worth $1000+
Is this true at all?
The money being raised by the sale of these is going to my uncles estate for his kids and i dont want to get taken advantage of by not knowing what i have.
Any info is greatly appreciated.

Yes, Brad will be able to identify it, and yes it may be valuable. I doubt however that it's worth much more than $200-$300 dollars. You see vintage mouthpieces priced in the $500 to $1000 range, but actually selling one for that much is another thing altogether....

Yes that is so true. There is not only the condition of the mouthpiece (chips, gauges, integrity of the rod rubber) that is important but much would revolve around whether the facing is original (or only lightly refaced).

Yes, as some have indicated, it is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. In recent years I have seen some of the legendary vintage mouthpieces listed on ebay and other sites that sit for ages with no buyers. Often they are overpriced and just someone's wishful thinking.
Vintage mouthpieces can vary so much that while they may have a good name on them, the dimensions or condition may be such that they are worthless as players.

Some years ago I had an A. Robert clarinet. The instrument dated to the early 1930's. It tuned surprisingly well and was a pleasure to play. The mouthpiece that came with it was original, but as I recall it didn't play particularly well. I got the best results with a. Selmer HS*. I remember there were some peculiarities regarding the spring mounts.
