Mitchell Lurie French File Cut reeds
Author: Roxann

I was given a box of 5 Premium French File Cut Bb Clarinet reeds. My guess is, they were at least 15 years old and the box had never been opened. I love them! BUT...I am having a terrible time with moldy reeds. I opened up the storage case where I've kept my reeds for years, only to find all 12 of them with mold spores growing on them.
SO...I went to order more of the reeds described in the previous paragraph, and they're no longer made. There are some available at exorbitant prices which I'm not willing to pay.
Does anybody know how the new Mitchell Lurie Premium reeds compare to the old Mitchell Lurie Premium French File Cut reeds? No pictures are available on-line for me to look at to see if the new one are French Cut or not.
THANK YOU!

Last I recall, the current D'Addario production of the Mitchell Lurie premium line is french filed. One of my students is doing great with them!

On the D 'Addario website, if you click on the link for Mitchell Lurie Premium Bb Clarinet Reeds, the the box in the picture clearly says "Filed," and under "Product Specs" (on the right-hand side of the page) it says "Filed." The last time a student of mine bought a box of these reeds a few years ago, they were filed. I can't say if the vamp profile is the same as the older Premiums, but the file-cut seems still to be a feature.

Thank you! I had no idea "filed" and French Cut mean the same thing!
