Hi Philip,
I think if your ear pops then that is a really really good sign.
That was a sign of things getting progressively better here. I think it takes quite a lot of those pops to make it resolve though, because the fluid in the ear is quite thick and takes time to drain.
It sounds from spikey1973's post above as though it's a good idea to combine that popping with steamy heat to soften the fluid in your ear. Then maybe do it twice a day to see if you can shift things along.
Maybe this is why people used to stick their head under a towel with a bowl of hot water with menthol in it.
