My two tries at the RC over the years were met with similar results.
I had the opportunity to play an RC Buffet well before I even heard of it. I played it for a few weeks and decided it was just not for me, and I wasn't sure why. Many years later (2014ish) I had a similar amount of time to spend with a Buffet Divine (utilizing the RC bore). This time I knew there was supposed to be a difference and what that difference was. The difference is that the RC is supposed to feature a less boisterous sound in favor of being a bit more subtle. Oddly, that is pretty much what I got. The volume of the horn was a little muted, or rather I didn't feel as thought the Divine delivered as much punch as the R13. This is really just comparing them side by side and within a section of other R13 players.
I have always felt that having the most amount of dynamic available when one wants, is akin to a painter having access to a full palette of colors.
