 A couple of operational things
Author: Mark Charette

Just a couple of things to be aware of:

1) Yes we know of the little spam messages that come across here and there. Please just ignore them and DO NOT post anything below them. We (Karl & I) see pretty much everything posted in chronological order and miss very few of them. If you see one that's a couple days old, please let us know, but wait a while before notifying us. Normally you'll see it gone within a day and the offender banned from the site. We ban by IP ranges; they can't get back to the site once they're banned that way.

2) On a more serious note, I've been made aware by a few people that they've received personal email saying that what they've posted does not conform to BBoard policies, that the BBoard is set up for professionals to communicate and newbies and amateurs are not welcome.

NOTHING COULD BE FURTHER FROM THE TRUTH! The BBoard especially is set up for newbies, amateurs, and professionals alike to communicate as they wish. Does it help spread disinformation? Yes, it does. We have sometimes less-than-expert opinions that come up, but generally the BBoard acts as Wikipedia and is self-correcting. Do we have professions here? A few, very few. We've had more in the past but many got tired of the repeating threads and left (there's only so many times a professional wants to answer 'what's the best ...' and have people argue with them on such unanswerable questions. Mostly we have amateurs talking back and forth - maybe 30 or so active participants in different area of clarinetistry, be it performing, musical research, repair, building, or whatnot.

If ANYONE tries to badger you - let Karl or I know immediately. I will NOT have such conduct allowed on this BBoard. If it's public then Karl and I can take care of it, but we can't see what goes on behind the scenes. Let us know and we can take care of the matter.

Thanks for all that you have done and continue to do over the years. This site is still a great resource for all levels of clarinetists!
