Vintage F Besson Clarinet

Found a vintage clarinet in an antique shop, but can’t seem to find any information on it. It’s stamped with “F Besson Paris” and the serial number is 5024. Can anyone tell me anything about it?

Most likely it is an Eb given the one piece body and other proportions.

Besson is mostly known for their brass instruments, however in the past they offered a wide variety of other instruments including the first contrabass clarinet to see widespread use. There's a good chance it is a stencil made by a different manufacturer but stamped with the Besson logo as this was fairly common. Likely it is a fairly high quality instrument for the time period and would be worth fixing up, especially if you need an Eb.

When you get a change please do let us know what key it's in- I reckon it looks a little big for an Eb... but maybe JD is right...
