Hi, I was wondering if anyone here has had the chance to try the new E-flat Muse from Selmer? Wondering if I should consider it when I am eventually in the market for a pro-level E-flat clarinet. Specifically I am wondering about intonation and tone, compared to something like the E-flats from Buffet (I hear modern Buffet has bad quality control). Also wondering about the price because Selmer's website seems to be bugged at the moment; I doubt they are selling this new instrument for ten dollars and eighteen cents.

I haven't tried the Muse Eb, but I recently bought a 1980s Selmer Eb for less than 1/4 of the price Selmer are asking for their new ones. These were the top professional Eb's in their day, and I find it hard to believe that modern designs will be in a different league (the modern wood will be inferior, for sure). So if you want an Eb at that level, I'd start with these older Selmers. There are several I can see being offered for sale in well-known online used instrument sites.

I bought this late '70s Series 9 full Boehm Eb for £980 within the past ten years.

I agree with the other posts here -- the Selmer Paris Eb clarinets are terrific instruments. I bought and refurbished a vintage instrument that was an amazing player....and then decided that Eb was more work than it was worth. A few years later a steady gig came up and I needed to purchase another Eb....after trying several, I eventually purchased another vintage Selmer Paris Eb and now will never part with it.
BTW, I have lent the latest instrument to several folks who have said it is an amazing horn.
TL;DR: Selmer Paris Eb clarinets have historically been excellent.

I haven't tried the Eb Muse, but I've tried a set of Bb and A Muse clarinets and compared with a Privilege set if that would help you.

I have LL Leblanc customised tuning, yet to find any better.Buffets tend to have the standard problems magnified

The Muse Eb is a great horn. Like its Bb/A cousins, it's Selmer's "Evolution" material (similar, but not the same as Greenline), and has a 10-year warranty against cracking.
