Are there any Woodwind & Brasswind or IMS type stores in Montreal, Toronto or Ottawa? I'm going to those three places over the summer and I'd like to be able to try instruments (since my dad lives in Canada and would be the way I could buy anything hehe).
If anyone has had experiences with any stores up there, please share them if you don't mind.
Thanks,
Bradley
(I've searched, but was looking to see if anyone had more information than what I found.)

Check out http://www.long-mcquade.com/
I would imagine that the store in Toronto is even bigger and better then the one here in Vancouver on Hastings St.
A great teacher gives you answers to questions
you don't even know you should ask.

Check out Pascal Veraquin in Montreal. Try a Google search for his website.

Hi Bradley,
Long and McQuade is great in Toronto, and St. John's Music is also pretty big..

Bradley,
I bought both of my saxes at Long & McQuade in Toronto. They had a good selection of instruments and a technician on site to make adjustments, which I found helpful.

Hmm, anyone remember Gary Armstrong in Toronto? Along with Long & McQuade, these people have an excellent reputation among the pros. They're very informative, a repair tech is on site, and they let you take your time. The store is a rose among thorns (if you visit the new store you'll know what I mean). Check out their site at www.garyarmstrong.com.

If only Gary Armstrong carried more than Buffet :-/
Thanks for the help either way, I appreciate it.

The Vancouver Long & McQuade is extremely limited for everything but guitars. Similar with most stores here, actually. What are the best ones in Vancouver? I know of the Granville St. Tom Lee, and Prussin Music, but aside from that... not much here that I know of.

Yup. He is also, however, a Buffet-only man, I believe. And if not, his website certainly would lead one to believe so...

Long & McQuade Musical Instruments is the largest chain in Canada with over 90 stores. They stock my book. The second largest I believe is St. Johns Music with about 10 stores.
The Most Advanced Clarinet Book--

In Montreal, both Arduini and Pascal Veraquin are no longer in business. Only Twigg remains and the brothers, Daniel and Pascal, sell just about everything. They run a good repair shop too.
