Hello! I just got buffet SL- with R13 barrel and bell, I don’t know this model, it looks like anniversary edition of S1. Any thoughts?

Are you SURE it's not just an S1? From that era, there are a lot of cases that have the red band with "anniversary" on it... but I have to say I've never heard of an SL. Sorry to cast doubt, but.... convince us!

Becides the SL logo, is it any different from a "regular" R13?
How does it play?
Thanks

Buffet has done some limited private label clarinets (Limité comes to mind) in the past.
I wonder if this is a similar production?

The logo is identical in other respects to the S1 logo - enclosed in a diamond shape. I suspect the most likely explanation is that the person doing the stamping just picked up the wrong die by mistake and stamped "L" instead of "1". Certainly these letters can be easily confused in some typefaces.

The Barrel and Bell look new and could be non original. What is the serial number of the clarinet? Does is match the period the S1was made in?

Yes, you are right, barrel and bell is R13, I buy it second hand, but I have S- barrel too. Serial number is 426179

That serial number seems extremely late for a mis-stamped S1 - mid-to-late 1990s I think (based on the serial numbers of my clarinets)

You said you have the "S -" barrel - is that the original barrel? Does it have any markings apart from the buffet logo?

I got this buffet with two barrels - one with “S” logo 66mm, and another R13 66mm. And R13 bell. I think S barrel is original, but I’m not sure

Does the S barrel have similar style stamps to the R13 one? If so, that and the late serial number make me think this might have been some kind of special order (since nobody seems to know anything about it). You could try writing to Buffet about it (with the serial number) but I suspect you'd be lucky to get a response.
Another option is that someone has customised it and stamped it with SL themselves.
There used to be a serial number checker on the Buffet website that would give you the date of manufacture and model of clarinet for a given serial number but that's long gone unfortunately.
