E11 marks

Hi

I'm trying to verify if a clarinet I have is an E11, or possibly an older version of what became the E11. It looks like an older E11 (to me and others). It doesn't have the Buffet logo or model number and it's very common for those to wear off on the E11 so this doesn't mean anything. The case is an older Buffet case.

The weird thing is that it only has the serial number engraved and no country of origin anywhere. Were there ever made this way? I might remember wrong but I don't think I've seen a Buffet wood clarinet without the "Made in Germany" or "Made in France" engraving. Other than that it seems genuine in every way.

If it's for the UK or European market, it won't have 'Made in Germany' on it - none of the Schreiber-built Buffet clarinets except the older Evettes have 'Made in W. Germany' stamped on them.

Thanks. It could be a coincidence that the tons of E11s I've seen had the Made in Germany engraving, or possibly it was a requirement for clarinets imported here.
I'm pretty sure I remember E11 clarinets with Made in W. Germany and from your post on another forum I understand they started making the E11 in 1986 which would still be W. Germany for a few years. I might remember wrong though.
