Hello all. This is my first post here & I hope it is appropriate.
I am attempting to discover the life accomplishments of my childhood clarinet teacher. His name was Herb Handman, I studied with him in the 1960s in Sacramento, CA where he played in the Sacramento orchestra along with his wife, then they subsequently left Sacramento for other opportunities.
He was originally from New York where I believe he played for the New York Philharmonic. He studied in Sweden as a young man. Anyhow, his teaching left an enormous imprint on my life and I would like to trace back his career. Thank you for any leads you might provide, I have done considerable internet searching to no avail.

Paul,
I knew a Herb Handman back in the early 60’s in Brooklyn, NY. Quite probably the same person you’re inquiring of. If so, I can impart some background. Contact me off the B Board via email and we can chat

Hi Paul,
You could also try the International Clarinet Association to see if they have any mention of him in the back numbers of their magazine, which are all archived online. The membership is very cheap, and you get free membership of the Naxos music library, so it's well worth it. I did search the Naxos library for your teacher's name but there didn't seem to be any entries. The ICA might have records of him though.
