 pomarico mouthpiece

Hi guys

I did not have a great experience with my bd5 with a european cut legere and after hearing about how Corrado Giuffredi with his experience with synthetic reeds, I wanted to try them again with a different mouthpiece to see if that makes a difference.
I was thinking about getting a pomarico crystal mouthpiece to go with the synthetic reeds, but I didn't know which model and where to get them.
If anyone has any advise on mouthpieces that go well with the synthetic reeds, and where to get them too I would really appreciate it.

For what it’s worth, I do not find there is such a thing as a “synthetic reed mouthpiece.” If it is a facing/tip opening that works well for you, it should work for you whether you use cane or synthetic reeds: Some say that more open mouthpieces or mouthpieces with thicker rails help with Legere but both those options always have the same drawbacks for me on either.

Hi Minjun,

I generally find Légere reeds to be less tolerant with mouthpieces that have any kind of asymmerty on the facing/rails/upper baffle. As Paul said above, a great mouthpiece plays great with cane or Légere. However, I might add that I have a facing preference for Légere. If the facing is too open or too long, the intonation may suffer, as Légere tends to play a bit flatter than cane.

I've found that if a mouthpiece works for you with cane then it will work with legere reeds. Legere reeds are much more dependant on correct reed placement, but once you get it right they will work.
