Hi All!
Does anyone use the 'Howarth Professional Reed Case'? What do you think?

I'm looking at purchasing a wooden reed case that holds at least 8 reeds so I'd be happy for other recommendations.

I don't have experience of reed cases, but that certainly looks like a nice one, sleek and clean on the outside. It's too bad they don't have a picture of the interior. I would be worried of my reeds popping out if they are just held by the raised pad in the lid.
Looks well made. I would probably find that a little pricey, but it depends on whether it is not only beautiful but useful (that is, storing reeds securely).

I have these two cases. (photos attached)
I liked them at first but they are impossible to disinfect.
I haven't used them for three years and you'd be welcome to them if you would like them.
The edge inside the case seems to have peeled off when I opened them just now as they must have glued themselves together. That might be a useful thing to know if you are thinking of buying something else.

I have Wiseman cases, similar I think to the Howarth - elegant, pricey, and they don't separate the reeds. They are in my cigarbox of spare parts.
It is best to use a case that will hold an entire box of reeds. The Protec case, which holds 12 reeds, seems more practical. I use the extra slots to separate playable reeds and ones that need work, and later on to separate reeds that are ready and ones that are played out.
Following professional videos, I try to break in an entire box all at once. But also, I run them all through a Reed Wizard and get a surprising yield per box.
Protec reed cases are inexpensive enough to have multiple boxes of reeds going at a time. Mine are numbered 1, 2, 3, etc. and I use them in sequence, so that when there are no more performance-capable reeds in box 2, I move on to use box 3, and inter the contents of box 2 in my reed graveyard.
Caveat Emptor - Légère reeds are too thin for the Protec plastic case. They will slide in too far and the tip will be damaged.
