I’ve been asked to play William Walton’s Facade. I’m not much of a bass clarinet player and there is bass in the part. Does anyone have a copy of the clarinet part that they could send me to help me figure out if it’s within my limited abilities? Thanks!

The problem here is less the notes and more the insanely fast changes. In places, you need to be playing the bass while it's in its stand already in order to have enough time to switch to/from a soprano instrument. No. 20 is the worst, where you have one bar rest to get from bass to clarinet in A (where, for good measure, you realise the previous number used clarinet in Bb, so there's an excellent chance of picking up the A and finding no reed to blow...). A clarinettist must have annoyed Walton at some point.

Thanks John for heads up on the lightning-fast changes. And thanks for the offer Peter. What ebonite sent was enough for me to look at the score. The bass is relatively easy, so I look forward to playing this!
