My 6th grader picked up her clarinet today. She is starting band class and is very excited to learn the instrument. I'm a musician myself (not clarinet), so I did some research on her instrument. I couldn't find much about it. Perhaps someone here can help?
The clarinet is a rental. The paperwork states it's a Buffet Crampon valued at $700. The case is labeled Buffet Crampon and looks brand new. Not the original case. The instrument looks like it's seen some use, which is understandable given the circumstances. I don't see a Buffet Crampon label, or any other manufacturer's label, anywhere on the instrument. I searched the serial number on the Buffet Crampon website and it didn't produce any results. The serial number is C0323xx, which doesn't match any Buffet Crampon serial number configuration I have seen.
I am paying $30 a month to rent the clarinet. I want to make sure I am not paying to rent a $200 instrument. If that's the case, I'll just send back the rental and buy a new clarinet. If it is a $700 instrument, I'll continue with the rental.
Any help identifying this clarinet would be appreciated.
Thanks!
