I seem to recall that in my early clarinet days (the 1980's) I would sometimes see clarinets with patches on the pinkie keys that provided some texture. I have a student with some significant physical disabilities who I think would benefit from having one or two of these. Does this ring a bell for anyone? I know I saw them multiple times back in the day, but never in recent decades. If this product still exists I'd like to be able to get it. Thanks!

Nell: I don't know anything about these patches, but I think Micropore 3M tape would do the trick. This is what it's called in France. It may go by a different name elsewhere.

My wife has Cork "patches" glued on a couple of keys (including left hand e/B). These have remained there for more than 20 years and countless hours of playing. 2

Thanks for this thread! I recently started learning bass and I have small hands. My RH pinky has slipped off a particular key several times...once it bent my nail back a little, ouch (and I keep them very short). I never thought of adding something for texture.
I looked up the micropore tape and it appears to come in white or tan only? I'm going to keep searching for something clear.
