Hi I have an old B&H Emperor clarinet I got a 926 mouthpiece from a very kind man called JOhn who i met on this board and it's made a huge difference to the responsiveness of the clarinet. I'm just wondering is there a make of reed is best to use with the 926?

Any reed designed for a French style mouthpiece will work on the 926, but I've had best results using Vandoren 56 Rue Lepic 3's. It's a very personal matter, so your best choice may be quite different.

Send a pic of the mouthpiece, the table area to the tip. Often these are nicked up and even chipped, so a replacement might be of great value with fulfilling advancement in your playing. A bad mouthpiece can surely mess up your practice sessions causing a lot of frustration to the point of giving up.

Here is a pic of Cathy's mouthpiece, Bob. Not the greatest photo, with a bit of light glare on the rails, but the tip, rails, and table are in pretty good condition.

Hi Cathy!

The best reed is the one that works best for YOU.

Good advice from Chris. No easy way to get around having to kiss a lot of frogs before you find your prince.

HI John :) The mouthpiece is in good condition and has made a massive difference to my very hard to blow B&H Emperor! I had a 2.5 vandoren on have switched to a 3 and seems much better. I will try the VD Rue Lepic's just to compare but deffo big improvement already - thanks all :)
