 Spare mouthpieces
Author: SunnyDaze

Hi,

I was thinking about the thread where people stated preferences for mouthpieces and I had an idea. I wondered if I could suggest it here?

The thing that struck me about the thread, is that we have all bought a lot of mouthpieces that didn't suit us, while we were on the route to finding our preferred mouthpieces.

That means that we all have at least a few mouthpieces in a drawer that we are probably never going to use. (I know I do anyway.)

Given that mouthpiece preferences are incredibly specific to each person, presumably there will be loads of other people who would be delighted to have these spare mps.

I wondered if it might make sense to have a thread where we list which mps we have that we really don't need or want, just in case it would be helpful to pass them on to someone else, or even loan them to someone else so they could try them?

These are the things that I have spare that I could pass on for free or on loan:

To give away for free:

A Selmer mp
An unlabelled mp

Plastic barrels: 65mm, 66mm, 67mm

Normany Resotone clarinet.

(Some of these were very kind gifts to me from forum members when I was starting out, and I'd be glad to pass them on to anyone who would like to use them.)

I also have a 66mm Buffet Icon barrel that I could lend out if anyone would like to try it. It cost me quite a bit so I'd probably better not just give it away.

Looking at four possibilities of either 1) giving away, 2) lending, 3) trading, or 4) selling equipment we don't want, I think the moderators of Clarinetbb would have to decide whether the first three categories (giving, lending, and trading) belong to the fourth, For Sale list, or to this list.

Speaking for myself, the acquisition of a mouthpiece (or any other piece of musical gear) is a representation of what can or had worked at a point in time. If any dramatic changes come up in the future along the musical journey, it would be nice to have the ability to retry these things that we have on hand (speaking as a potential hoarder).

So I guess I'm saying that I need to hold on to all of my stuff.

Hi Paul,

Thanks yes I see what you mean. I have a whole load of stuff that I know I will want to come back to and so I didn't include that.

Seabreeze - yes I also see what you mean. Maybe it would be more appropriate if I list these things on the sale section with a £0 price tag? I'm happy to do that.

Thanks!

Jennifer

Sunnydaze,

I know I'm way late but if the 67mm barrel is still available, and if you don't mind posting a long way I will gladly cover postage. My french bore Emperor is way too sharp

Best

Derek

Hi Nelson,

Thanks for writing. Yes that's absolutely fine.

Would it be okay if I send the Normany Resotone clarinet with it? The long barrel belongs to that clarinet. jdbass reconditioned it before kindly sending it to me and it's working really well.

I'm in the UK. I'm really happy to ship it anywhere. I sell stuff on ebay a lot and am very used to posting things internationally.
