Mpc barrel fusion: Any new reserarch?

Any new enlightenment in the ages-old clarinetist's problem of mpc stuck in barrel? I know the "tease/rock it out" theory using a thin blade and the "heating pad" theory (does that even work?).

Of course, I couldn't have jammed a crappy 2RV or something into the barrel. It had to be one of my three Ed Cabarga mpcs. I studied with Ed very briefly.

I've wondered why someone hasn't "fused" the MP and barrel as one piece? In other words, manufactured as one solid item. That would remove the possibility of pulling at the MP, but I wonder if all were one solid chunk, if it would add more resonance. The joints on the clarinet are somewhat decoupled with cork ... it seems if the instrument had fewer pieces, the sound might improve?

The (many) problems that would create outnumber any perceived advantage.
