 Gonzalez reed cases

Long (50 years + or -) ago when I bought my Buffet Bb and Eb clarinets, they came with reed holders that held 4 clarinet reeds on their edges. They were all-plastic construction and eventually went the way of all things plastic - I still have one of them in a drawer, I think, but it's cracked and the plastic hinges are broken. I liked the design and found the holders far more warp-preventing than cases that hold the reeds flat, I suppose because air circulates around the entire reed, allowing for more even drying.

10 or 15 years ago I discovered some cases marketed by Gonzalez that were based on the same design but much more substantially built. I bought several of them over a few years' time.

I'm looking to replace one in particular (the latch broke on one of mine) but apparently Gonzalez doesn't produce/distribute them any more. They don't show any reed holders at all on their website. Has anyone seen this type reed holder for sale anywhere?

TIA,
Karl

No, however I bought one of these (holds 20), it practically fell apart, someone off this BBoard sold me theirs a few years ago. Still use it to this day. I also have 2 smaller cases that hold 5 each. I’m not selling, sorry!

I briefly considered designing & making cases like these to sell, however the process quickly got expensive and I didn’t have the capital to even make a start.

I believe I’ve seen Holzinger make a modern version of what you’re looking for (based in Australia I believe).

Thanks for mentioning Holzinger. I wasn't aware of them at all. Googling them brings up a link to a FB page, but I don't see a website URL. Do they have one? I guess I can message them with a question.

I also found some for sale on EBay that are described as originally from Davie Cane. When I tried to look at Davie Cane Company's website, I found that they are apparently out of business? A Florida website called Florida Reg indicates that Davie Cane is "inactive."

I think I can get what I'm looking for from EBay, but it would be interesting to know if someone is making these currently.

Holzinger appears to be Facebook only. Check the “community” part of his page for pics of his single Reed cases.

This may not be accurate BUT I believe the cases were originally made by Davie Cane, whose company was bought by Gonzalez and Gonzales subsequently bought by Selmer? This may well be incorrect.
