I just bought a really nice buffet intermediate model bass clarinet. It is the 1180, pre-2007 model. It did not come with a neck. Does anyone know of a place that I could find one? I contacted buffet, but they said they no longer manufacture the neck for this instrument.

Could probably make one with one of the cheap Chinese necks. Just add some cork to the tenon and adjust the length if needed by unsoldering, cutting and resoldering. I think the chances of finding an original are slim.

You may want to contact Eric Satterlee at Meridian Winds. I've seen him do some interesting conversions and he may even have a used neck that will work. The register key alignment as well as the corkage/tenon may also need attention.

PS I am just a satisfied customer of Meridian Winds.

The 1180 doesn't have a key on the neck.

I did find a guy named Jared DeLeon who makes custom 3D printed and wood necks. He is going to make me one :-)
