Anyone know the tip openings, facings on the Accousticut mouthpieces? I know they're labeled 2, 3, 4, etc., but I can't find any info on what the numerical reference means. Thanks in advance for your response. JW

I think the 3 is around 1.2mm in the natural state. But that is only based on measuring 1 sample - other REFACED #3s were around the 1.10mm mark (easy to bring it down flattening the table). I have 3 of these but only one in its original facing.

Do you mean 1.2mm or 1.02mm. A 1.2mm ("120") tip is rather open.

You mean as open as the incredibly popular B45 or B40? (which are around the 1.19mm mark). For a lot of the players in the world 1.02mm is ridiculously close...

I misinterpreted what you wrote about "easy to bring it down..." - thought it meant bringing it down to the original spec, which, if 1.20, would have been going the wrong way.

To each his own - I've always lived in the 1.00-1.05mm range. Facings like the B-series Vandorens have always seemed cavernous to me. But I just thought to check. :)

Yes I see I didn't word that well. BTW any B45 I ever owned got refaced to 1.09-1.10 ish, I'm no fan of the more open facings either...
