 Solère - Concerto Espagnole!

Pedro Étienne Solère's Concerto no. 6 earned the nickname "Concerto Espagnole"
from the 1999 recording by Dieter Klöcker. A new edition is available on the Historical Clarinets website for free download:

Solère was not only a brilliant clarinettist but had a great musical imagination to judge from this work.

How wonderful Craig, thanks for doing this.
I was looking into a possible concerto by the Chevalier St. George and it seems like either this or one other by Solere was misattributed to St. George at a concert they were both performing in. I wonder what your take might be on that?

I thought that was the likely scenario too, but I had a look into this again, and in the Musical Almanac "Almanach Musical" from 1782 one reads:

M. Solers a acquis les mêmes droits à la satisfaction publique par le concerto de clarinette qu’il a exécuté, & qui a été composes par M. de Saint- George.

Mr. Solers acquired the same rights to public satisfaction by the clarinet concerto which he performed, & which was composed by Mr. de St. George.

The almanac is available online:

See page 1822

There is mention of Soler playing another concerto on page 1935, composer not mentioned.

Composers weren't normally mentioned in this kind of reporting - it was assumed to be the performer in most cases. It doesn't seem likely that the writer would have made a mistake. So it seems there probably was a concerto by Saint-George.
