 Mail Problems

I live in Australia and normally buy pads and the like from Music Medic or Ferrees. I'm running short of some sizes and need to re-order, but right now the US postal service has suspended their service to Australia. There doesn't seem to be a problem getting stuff from the UK or Europe. Can anybody suggest or recommend a source of pads, cork and the like in UK or Europe? It's a royal pain, I've got a package of parts and a clarinet sitting in a warehouse somewhere in the US with no likelihood of seeing them any time soon.
Thanks in advance.

Tony F.

Yes, they did- on Oct. 1st.

You can see it here:

It looks like they will send the package back to the sender.

The only way around the suspension (as I see it) is to have Ferrees to send the order to a friend in EU and then have them send it to you...

The issue is on Auspost's end so even if you manage to get it sent through Europe it's likely to spend 2+ months sitting in Sydney. That's what happened to a clarinet I sent out a few months ago, and it's only gotten worse. Only option is to use another service. UPS is more expensive but fairly reliable.

This is where I buy bits from, in case it's any help.

It's in the UK.

I've found Windplus reliable. Another UK source is https://www.dawkes.co.uk/

The United States Postal Service is becoming unreliable. I had a ligature I ordered disappear in route. The Post Office claimed that they delivered it, but I was home the day they claimed to have delivered it and it just didn't happen. The supervisor tried to show me a picture of the side of my house as proof that it was delivered, but delivery is always at the front door and the photo looked like something taken off of a real estate sales site. My wife also had a book disappear in route that they neither delivered nor found.

It seems not to be just the USPS either. I ordered a very rare crystal mouthpiece from a shop in Calgary, Canada. It was shipped FedEx if I recall correctly. It reportedly disappeared somewhere in route between Calgary and Winnepeg in route to Louisiana. The seller was kind enough to refund my money. All of this in the last year. I'm beginning to wonder if there is an international cabal of mail thieves. Or maybe disgruntled delivery persons.

+1 for Dawkes.
you probably want to request they send it via a trackable courier like TNT (good for Australian deliveries I think) or DHL and pay whatever extra they need t charge for it.
