 Who Currently Makes Leblanc Clarinets?

Yes it's a serious question.

These student model Leblancs don't even look anything like true Leblancs of old (Vito/Normandy/Noblet/Leblanc), so what exactly are Conn-Selmer passing off as Leblancs?

Someone bought the name? Or they are using it because there is no company around to sue them?

What exactly does a "true Leblanc" look like? A Ridenour? It looks like Selmer bought the name and I believe Leblanc is a US made clarinet now?

Leblanc has been owned by Conn-Selmer since the early 2000’s.

Like many of the other Clarinet makers, There are a few student models that are made in Asia in order for us to stay competitive in the global market. Chris, the ones you have linked are made for specific markets internationally which is why they are available in some
markets and not others.

Leblanc is very much alive and well. We have just launched an updated Vito along with two new student models which will be available internationally (the Debut and Spirito). The keywork is entirely re-designed, and I can assure you that they look feel and play very much how we think a Leblanc should. We will also be releasing the Serenade 2 intermediate Clarinet in June which is an awesome instrument. We are also working on a whole host of other new projects which i hope to be able to share soon.

Thanks
Julian

Dear Julian, What model do you play on-and I suppose, were the tester of? How would you describe it?

Thanks Julian for the honest reply.

When the French factory closed and Leblanc production moved to the US, the new models on offer back then didn't seem to last long on sale by UK woodwind specialists and the only place I've seen them was on your Facebook page.

I was worried Conn-Selmer had done what other big companies like B&H had done in the past by buying the names of once respected makes and stencilling those makers' names on imported student models of varying quality.
