I have a question for the Bass specialists about repertiore:
During the suspension of amateur performing arts activities in the UK because of COVID, may wife has been complaining about lack of motivation for playing her bass clarinet. Much of the music she has is wind band parts, and not at all satisfying to play alone.
Between us, we have a reasonable amount of music suitable for Bb soprano clarinet. Yes, I know that music intended for the Bb can also be played on the Bass, but she is looking for something particularly written for the Bass as a solo instrument.
She is not into Jazz, so anything overtly jazzy wouldn't be welcome. She's also looking for original, written-for-bass clarinet compositions, not arrangements of music written for other instruments.
In terms of standard: equivalent to the British ABRSM grade 6 or higher. She has a low-C instrument, so don't let low C stop a recommendation.
Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

Contact Durwynne Hsieh:

Durwynne has written a Sonata for Bass Clarinet and piano. I've heard a
"synthesized" version of it, and I like it.

Hallo
Balthasar Hens and Matthias Höfer released CD for bassclarinet and piano. Both are playing fantastic.
Most of the composition are original. The basson sonata is transcripted for bassclarinet.
I can recommend cello composition of the late 19. century. Of course you have to transpose.
Francois Rasse composed "Lied" for bassclarinet and piano. I found a lot of composion on zerluth.de.
Frohe Ostern!
