I bought a Selmer Signet 100 clarinet at a local estate sale. Soon afterward I noticed that the barrel was cracked on the outside but not through the bore. But 6 months later the crack went all the way through. I called a clarinet guru and he told me that a replacement barrel has to be the right length, bore, sockets and material (though he didn't stress material). Any ideas on where to get a replacement?

Well,
There are quite a few Signet 100's available for sale now on "that auction site". Quite a few have been refurbished and sell for several humdreds of dollars. But I saw two, one for $30 and one for $42, that you could maybe use as a "parts clarinet", and buy it just for the barrell, and any parts you may need in the future. Those should be the right length, bore and socket sizes. That's less than you'll pay for an after market barrel.

Cracked barrels are easy to fix. Check search here on barrel repair.
