Hello, everyone; first post here! I have recently acquired a “rescue“ Yamaha CSG Bb clarinet, first generation. Unfortunately, it is missing the case and a barrel, And as you know, both are different than most other clarinets.
Of course, a barrel is much more important to me than a case, but I wanted to take a shot in the dark and see if anyone, just out of sheer luck, has some Yamaha CSG parts they have laying around that they would be willing to sell? From what I understand, the generation one barrels that came with the CSG‘s were 56.5 mm? And I think the consensus was that those were generally flat, but let me say that I will take anything at this point, ha ha. Beggars cannot be choosers.
I have owned a couple of Yamaha clarinets in the past, but not anything at this level. Thank you to everyone who has posted information about these clarinets over the years, it’s made for great reading.
Thanks again,
Raphael T. Bernard

Thanks very much, Paul. Funny enough, I placed two different orders on eBay from Chinese sellers last week, and both canceled my orders because they were not able to get the short size. I also tried to put an order in with Dr. Alan Segal, but it seems that he has retired. Brad Behn doesn’t have anything shorter than 61mm, and Brian Corbin told me that a short Polaris is unlikely due to low demand.
I’ve had someone respond to this post, so maybe I will have some luck after all! I’ll be sure to report back.
Thanks again,
Raphael

That's weird about the Chinese sellers. I had ordered a few years ago and then again just about six months ago for a total of four separate orders, all of which went without a hitch (except the long wait.....one order took three months).
Of course Yamaha will still have barrels for around $350 (the newer and older versions of the CSG only differ in the extra venting on the newer ones......not bore or barrel size).

Backun used to sell CSG Fatboy barrels (which I use), but now sell CSG Lumiere barrels:
https://backunmusical.com/products/lumiere-barrels?variant=31808729186389
Clark Fobes also sells CSG barrels:
https://www.clarkwfobes.com/products/fobes-clarinet-barrel-yamaha-csg?variant=21417802301500
Finally you could contact the NY or LA Yamaha Ateliers and see if a barrel is available.
Good luck!

Zoom does make German clarinet barrels that work on the CSG...I had one for my past set of CSG2's.

A lot of companies, and from China in particular, have huge delays because of Covid.

Actually I want to respond to the last two posts:
The Chinese seller remark was regarding cancellation, ostensibly because they could not get a certain size. The are really good at having all sorts of crazy sizes. Additionally, if an item is posted as available, generally it is available.
The German sized barrel occurred to me as well.......at first. HOWEVER, the German mouthpiece (and by "the" I mean "every") features a slightly longer and slightly larger diameter tenon, so the upper socket would be too large and a French mouthpiece will wobble around in it.
