How do I disinfect the upper and lower joints on clarinet? There's plenty of information on disinfecting MPs.

Check with someone who's actually qualified, but my understanding is that, if you're the only one handling or playing your clarinet, there's no reason to disinfect your mouthpiece or instrument because you can't infect yourself with your own germs.

(Yes, there was a story some years back about a person getting sick from bagpipes that hadn't been swabbed out in years. Different animal, different situation.)

Any microbiologists here care to chime in?

The bagpipe thing is singular. The old, traditional ones used a leather bladder (interior to the tartan exterior that you see). You can just imagine what can go on in a leather bladder.

Also, I have seen (off and on) that the surface contact spread of Covid is not NEARLY as much an issue as "swapping air."

Take that for what it's worth.

I've mentioned on the other thread on this that the only things I've ever washed were my mouthpiece, ligature & reeds (cold water). That's over half a century of playing, and I'm pretty darn close to being a Germaphobe.
