 Collection of Mozart cadenzas (Eingang)
Author: Klose 2017

Some well-known composers or historical players composed short cadenzas or Eingang for the Mozart concerto. I did a search but found it's hard to find them. Can anyone provide a scan here if you have one or more of these?

And I plan to typeset a collection of these cadenzas for the use of our community.

Notably, these versions are of great interest:

Busoni (1922 Breitkopf and Härtel edition)
Ibert (Alphonse Leduc edition)
Carl Baermann (Carl Fischer edition)
Stockhausen (1985)

This is an interesting topic. I was under the impression that unlike cadenzas (cadenze?), Eingange were generally conceived on the spot, in the seconds leading up to their execution, and could thus vary with each performance. I'm not sure I've ever seen any written out?

claricolin:

In fact, in quite some editions, the editor would give suggestions (some good, some so so), and the player is certainly encouraged to improvise and compose his/her own versions. But it is of course nice to see the suggestions given by these famous composers.

I just had a look at Colin Lawson's book on the concerto and indeed he mentions some of the editions you quoted. I agree, it would be great to see scans of these. I'm preparing mvt 1 for an upcoming exam and could do with some inspiration, although I'd like to do my own thing, ultimately :)

As the matter in question is editorial amendments of the Urtext, posting scans as suggested smells of copyright complications ... .

That said, it may be worth putting on the record in this thread that the Neue Mozart Edition text of KV622 (which is available online for scholary purposes) includes suggestions for some Eingänge.
