 Hello everyone!!
Have some spare time recently, and wanted to dabble in the clarinet again. Originally I got up to grade 6 ish level and stopped (this was about 5 years ago).

Please can anyone recommend pieces to get back into playing - I can still stumble through some grade 6 pieces still (vocalise and croon song are the ones I did for exams back in the day), but if anyone has any book recommendations or a progressive list of books to work through please send them my way :D :D any pieces you recommend if possible, if you could put the approximate level that would be suuuuper helpful too.

My taste: I love romantic pieces, emotional, lyrical pieces (can you tell with the exam piece choice lol). Pieces I've enjoyed playing or like the sound of are as follows:

- Vocalise, Rachmaninoff
- Croon Song, Hurlstone
- Meditation from Thais
- Pachelbel's Cannon
- Serenade (Schubert)
- Sicilienne (Faure)
- Nocturne op 9 2, Chopin
- Fantasiestücke Op. 73, Schumann

Thank you all so much in advance!!

Is there a comprehensive listing of repertoire that is graded in this system? Whenever I see these numbered grade levels in posts I feel a little lost. I've looked at the ABRSM list, which is the only certifying organization I'm at all familiar with. The Grade 6 listing I've found on their website is only for 2018-21, is relatively short and doesn't seem to include the pieces you've listed. Are you referring to the ABRSM curriculum or one from some other organization?

I know most of the pieces in your list, so I can infer the difficulty to an extent, but I'm not certain what "Grade 6 ish" actually means.

Thank you for the reply! When I did Grade 6 ABRSM it was a long time ago so the syllabus has changed since then.

I just mean any pieces with difficulty around the pieces I mentioned.

Thank you

Schumann op.73 is difficult for all professionals.
