That's awful. I'm surprised at Mark for leaving them in his car in sight but we all make mistakes in our life. I'm so sorry for him. I hope he gets them back soon. I've always told my students if you can't lock them in the trunk take them with you, it only takes a few seconds for them to be stolen.

A note of caution, though.
Mark asks that, if possible, someone who finds these clarinets buy them, then he'd reimburse the person.
I think the person buying them might be liable to be arrested for receiving stolen property, and I don't think the police or the courts would listen to the explanation.
There might be a way around this other than reporting the thief to the police, but I sure wouldn't risk it going on my own. Maybe a "sting" could be arranged with the police if there was enough time.

That's awful. Years ago I was in Winnipeg unloading stuff from our van into an apartment and left my student model Yamaha on the ground by mistake. Later noticed it had walked away. Bought another used $100 one.

This is a good but chilling read: Gone: A Girl, A Violin, A Life Unstrung by Min Kym. A similar theft all but ruined this woman's life. It's a scary thing to be so invested in a thing. Absolutely necessary if you play on the level of a Mark Nuccio, and brings so much joy and satisfaction (to say nothing of your income!), but, things walk away or break, and then it's devastating. I hope he gets them back. Not nearly of the same stakes as Nuccio's loss, but I obsess over my instruments, which, compared to his, are worth nothing. My 1953 Buffet is my prize, because it's almost identical to the one of the same vintage played by my first teacher. The instrument is very imperfect, as would be expected of its age, but it's about the only one like it left. When it goes, there will never be another.

It must be said though that one's talent is within them and not the instrument. We may own unique and unusually valuable instruments, but in the end we make them come alive and no loss of a "thing" can ever take that away.
