I have an Amati ACL 261. I noticed the reed that came with the Eb clarinet is shorter than the Van Doren Eb reed and was made in Europe. Is it necessary to get the same size reed rather than the Van Dorens? If so, who sells it here in U.S.?

This is confusing. How much shorter?
At any rate, if they're both Eb clarinet reeds and they both will fit on the mouthpiece, the overall length shouldn't matter. So no, you don't need a particular brand and model of reed. As long as the reed fits on the mouthpiece, the length (within reason) doesn't matter much. (Lots of us cut down soprano reeds to fit the tables of our Eb mouthpieces and some Eb clarinet barrels have a flat surface on one side to accommodate reeds made for the soprano clarinets.)
I assume you're using the mouthpiece that came with the instrument, which is why you refer to the model of the clarinet rather than the mouthpiece itself?

The reed that came with my new Buffet was unplayable.
I would not worry about what came with your new clarinet and use reed brand you feel comfortable with.
