 cleaning clarinet with mildew problem

I have a '66 Selmer 9-star in otherwise good condition that developed whitish mildew all over the wood after a few years in improper storage. I have removed keys and wiped it down and I'm thinking of a thorough scrubbing with Murphy's Oil Soap followed by an oiling with almond oil maybe with a few drops of tea tree. I will probably also recork and repad as I am extremely sensitive to mildew. Wondering how others may have dealt with this type of situation.

Hopefully some full-fledged repair people can weigh in on this, but if it were me I'd try this:

disassemble everything, wipe down exterior, bore AND tone holes with something that will kill mold spores (rubbing alcohol? very weak bleach solution? cheap vodka?), then wait a week or so and do it again to be sure. Then maybe oil, as you outlined.

Meanwhile the pads and corks would have to be replaced (full of mold spores) so I'd maybe take the cleaned & disassembled horn (with keys in a separate bag) to the repair shop for a repad/recork. Everything organic on the horn's gotta go. (but DON'T take the horn IN the case!!)

The case is the real difficulty because all the lining is full of mold spores. So's whatever padding is in the case. The case probably should go.

That's MY best guess.

thank you. I concur with your procedure. was hesitant abt bleach or alcohol but have used them before. the case was part of the original problem but it got worse out of the case where it was stored. the case i know is a loss unless somebody rebuilds them. i have several and have done a few haha. they turned out ok but the time involved not worth it.

Love this inexpensive clarinet case!

https://www.amazon.com/Protec-Clarinet-Detachable-Pocket-BLT307BX/dp/B07FB8MYFJ/ref=sr_1_2_sspa?keywords=protec+clarinet+case&qid=1571975547&sr=8-2-spons&psc=1&spLa=ZW5jcnlwdGVkUXVhbGlmaWVyPUEzQktUTUoxWlY3VU5TJmVuY3J5cHRlZElkPUEwMDM4ODgyMzRGNFUwN0tQUjgwRSZlbmNyeXB0ZWRBZElkPUEwMTg4NTk3MURWQkRXWkFNSFg0UyZ3aWRnZXROYW1lPXNwX2F0ZiZhY3Rpb249Y2xpY2tSZWRpcmVjdCZkb05vdExvZ0NsaWNrPXRydWU=

I took off the music pouch and cut off the extra loops for the "back pack" feature (would NEVER use it this way). Lid stays open when you open case on your lap to assemble. That's the one thing this have over all the other cheap cases.

I bought a copy of a Buffet case off "the auction site" for about $41-42.
Looks like E12-E11 case except the storage space is behind the clarinet and fabric is not as nice as Buffet's, but for the price it's an excellent buy, IMHO

I am not big on taking the metro at night and advertising the fact that I have an instrument on me, so I bought the ultra compact Protec that has no pockets or storage and hides nicely in a shopping bag under my sweater. Super light , very sturdy, nice balance. I'm very happy with it. The rest goes in a small document pouch I clip to the strap (so as not to leave without my pencil - my band director is always threatening us with " No pencil? No career !).
