Hello everybody,
I am interested in buying a Leblanc Concerto in Bb. Its serial number is 69480. Does anyone know in what year this clarinet was made? What kind of wood did this clarinet use? Granadilla? Ebony?
Many thanks!

All standard wood clarinets are made of African Blackwood, also known as Grenadilla or Dalbergia melanoxylon.
I recall being completely in love with the sound of one particular Leblanc Concerto many years ago. I pretty nice horn, but I cannot help with the serial number.

Online serial number lists for Leblanc clarinets (e.g. http://www.woodwind.org/clarinet/Equipment/HowOld/Leblanc.html) seem to go only to the end of 1984, with serial 57480. They were averaging just under 2000 a year over the previous decade. But I happen to know that 74000-ish corresponds to 1999, which is closer to 1000 a year since 1984 (you see why they went out of business). So your 69480 must be around 1994.
