I stopped playing for about 6-7 months. Now I find i have forgotten how to finger certain notes, forgotten how to interpret the fingering charts, and forgotten how to use the Korg chromatic tuner. Have to start over now. Re-learn it all. Never thought I would forget it all. Have to review all the notes, practice playing on pitch, and get back up to speed. Was a lot better 7 months ago.

Seven months is a LONG time to go without playing. Unfortunately instrumental skill is not like riding a bicycle, it is a perishable skill.........to a point. If you get back into a regular regimen of practice, in three to six months you should be back up to speed.....and then some.
If playing clarinet is a priority, I would strongly suggest never taking more than a week off a year (like your big family vacation on which your wife won't let you take your clarinet). Even then, you'll find it a bit of a grind getting back up to speed!

Used to play half to one hour a day for 4-5 years when started. Then no time.
Funny- never forgot guitar chords or fingering. Clarinet just vanished. But now I find it comes back quickly.
Now trying to figure out how to use tuner to improve staying on pitch. See next post on TUNER.
