Hello everyone,
I recently got my Leblanc straight contrabass clarinet working and I now need a case for it. Currently I am using a gutted bass clarinet case, but unfortunately there isn't room for the bell and I have to cushion the two joints with a piece of cloth to keep them from rubbing together. I would like a sort of gigbag with two sections (one for each joint). Does anyone know of something like this? I was thinking of something like a microphone stand bag but I can't seem to find anything in the right size. I've also been looking at an Altieri bag but they are a bit out of my price range.

I ordered a gig bag from Altieri for my contra alto and have been very pleased. I also looked at Reed & Squeak as a possibility.
You might also reach out to a gentleman named Leo, who has made simple, lightweight, padded gigbags for a couple of my horns that were comparatively inexpensive. He does nice custom work (or he did back in 2016 when I ordered from him last). His email is paci1957@hotmail.com

Using a gig bag for a mechanism as complicated as is on a contra is asking for trouble. I wouldn't do it, but if you're willing to take your chances, go for it.
If I were looking for contra case, I'd look at some of the hard shell cases used for rifles and electronic equipment, cutting the foam inserts out for your particular instrument.
