Tony Pay Goes Very Low Indeed

This video of Tony playing a period style basset clarinet was shared on Howarth's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/orchestraoftheageofenlightenment/videos/2032679816807691/?t=229. It's quite fun to put a sound, face and voice to a poster here, and it's a fun video.

Thanks for the link!

One of my very first audio CD's was of Anthony playing the Mozart concerto with the Academy of Ancient Music. It was the very first time I was inspired by the playing of a clarinetist.

It was the first time I had ever heard the Mozart Concerto, and I tried for the rest of my "classically-focused" days to achieve a somewhat similar sound to what I heard. (I failed miserably because I went about it all wrong)...but this specific recording is still one of my favorite recordings to listen to in the "classical" branch.

Thanks again for sharing, and thanks, Tony...for years of inspiration and wonder.

I found a 10 keyed clarinet for a reasonable price, $12.30. Please let me know if you have one for sale http://americanhistory.si.edu/collections/search/object/nmah_1119380
I’d be willing to pay $13.

Always a treat to listen to Tony Pay's ideas on the history of the early clarinet and his insightful musicality.

And nothing says historic authenticity like a 5-key clarinet with a Rovner ligature. [wink]
