 Where to test Yamaha clarinets

Where is it possible to test Yamaha clarinets in the United States? In particular, I am interested in trying the CSG model (both A and Bb), but a general google search for this instrument yielded very little other than Yamaha's own website. I thought of ordering some on trial from a major dealer, but even that is proving difficult! I see that there is a Yamaha showroom in New York, but their website only mentions pianos.

Has anyone had luck with finding somewhere to try out Yamaha clarinets? Somewhere in the New England/Mid-Atlantic area would be preferable. Thanks all.

The New York City Yamaha location on "the eleventh floor houses the Band and Orchestra Atelier" according to the fine print on their website. They report that "professionals" can get their band and orchestra instruments fine-tuned there as well as sample new models. Perhaps your clarinet teacher could help you make an appointment with them.

The problem is that the local dealer in our Little Rock, Arkansas area can't sell or rent anything but student line clarinets, they have a couple of obligatory Buffet R13s, one or two Backun Alpha and Betas, but no pro Yamahas ...

I bought a YCL-650 in Memphis where they had several in stock (apparently their top upgrade clarinet) ... but only one CSVR and no others. I had to beat them down on price, they were trying to sell clarinets at retail ... I guess when you rent or finance a clarinet, they want more on the front end, people just want a monthly payment they can afford ...

Might have to take a plane trip or very long drive to audition several CSVRs or (someday) an SEVR ...

The other North American Yamaha Atelier is here in Southern California. Knotts Berry Farm is right down the street if you are looking for some fun in the sun. :) Disneyland is also about 5 miles away.

I selected pairs of CSVR's for both myself and a student from a large inventory. I also got to play several SEVR Bb's as well as the one SEVR-A they had at the time. The room they have there is an acoustic marvel, and the folks that work there are very helpful. No doubt your clarinet professor could initiate the contact for you. In my case, one of my local retailers made the connection for me.
