I was just testing a new Yamaha CSVR A Clarinet for a student. It was my first opportunity to play one of these, and I have to say that it seems to live up to the hype. Beautiful sound, response, evenness, and a light, even, and well adjusted action.
I haven't spent enough time with it yet, but my one minor concern is intonation. Like so many Buffets the 12ths on the low E and F are wide (flat at the bottom). It's manageable, but I'm wondering if this is to be expected with this model.
How much variation am I likely to find from CSVR to CSVR?
The store only has this one, but they have offered to make an appointment for me with Atelier in Buena Park. I may go up there just for my own education, although I may indeed purchase a new A clarinet or pair for myself as well!
