 Yamaha CSG||| and varios mouthpieces

Hi, everyone, I would like to share some of experience that I got with trying various mouthpieces on this clarinet, and on what I settled.

For background I am not professional musical, rather decided to come back to clarinet after almost 25 years, and now almost 2 years regularly play just for fun in local band.

So initial mouthpiece that come with clarinet was very unpleasant Yamaha 5CM - for me it was not good sounding at all, giving similar sound to 450 clarinet which I played before, and more over rather unstable for me with 3.5 Rico classic reed. I was just not falling with love with it sound, while even 4C on this clarinet sound better to me.

So I decided to change to band director recommended Vandoren B45 dot, and instantly it was like other planet, and I moved to 3.0 Rico classic. It sound so full and rich, and more controlled with my embrasure. And depending from lip pressure and angle I could get different voicing from mouthpiece, moreover been louder and fuller sounding then other clarinets, which later resulted as a big problem for me

I do enjoy this mouthpiece, playing anything as solo instrument, but as I moved to playing with larger band, with other woodwinds, for me started hard to control volume after longs breaks in pieces we play, and I made constant mistakes in portamento and diminuendo, upgrading to 3.5 to me do not solve problems as I started overbite and sound was not that pleasant.

Other band member played on Vandoren M15 but to me it just do not felt right in mouth, and was sounding to shrill for me, with 3.5 reed.

But instead I opted out to Rico X0 with 4.0 reed, and it greatly reduced my dynamics, but instead gived me confidence of taking clarinet and playing correct volume, from a start.
It plays nothing like M15, giving me rich and full sound, without need to press hard on a reed or even think about my volume, and rather concentrate on performing piece itself.

Surprisingly my friend bought 5CM from me, as upgrade on his E13 clarinet, and I loved stock mouthpiece much more on his clarinet, but he liked 5CM much more, and hated my B45 as he could play it only with 2.5 reed.

I thought it will be useful to share my thoughts here
