 Qualite Superieure mouthpiece, damaged
Author: StevenWayne

I got this with an old clarinet but it has light damage to the tip and rails and ligature scratches, so it ain't pretty. A small chip at the tip and tiny nicks on the rails. I was ready to disregard it, but decided to try it out and it plays better as is than a near mint Bruno Royal Artist mp I got with another clarinet (at least it does for me).

I have nothing to lose by trying to fill the chip and nicks. Superglue and hard rubber dust? I have to believe it would be better if repaired.

Thanks

I would suggest sending it to Brad Behn. He can do absolute wonders with a mouthpiece. I have seen and played pieces that he has resurrected and restored. I am sure that he can not only make it look great, but he will be able to make it play even better. He has the expert knowledge and reverence for these old mouthpieces and his skill is second to none.

I would also recommend Brad Behn without reservation. His workmanship is impeccable. The internals of your mouthpiece will be a work of art!

Original JB Weld is great for hard rubber chip repairs. It is gray in color so it is not for a cosmetic repair.

For those who have not seen it, take a look at Brad's pictures of repair work he has done. Simply stunning
