What do you do about reeds?

Hi, so I just wanted to get some opinions on this. I currently play on Vandoren v21's, and they're my preferred reed. I usually get a box of 6 good reeds, 2 usable reeds, and 2 duds. In my recent box, I've tested/set aside almost all of the reeds. What do you do with reeds that simply aren't usable? I tend to sand them down, and give them a week apiece- but these reeds simply had a bad sound regardless.

Purchase Tom Ridenour's ATG reed adjustment system ... now you can get almost all of your reeds usable ...

Parrots really enjoy chewing on them, and it's pretty fun to watch.

Is that true? I have many duff reeds, and a fiend who keeps parrots. That should read 'friend'. Ho hum.
